Usability Agency

We are a usability agency that focuses on the user experience and usability of digital products. Because only a self-explanatory and intuitive digital product is fun, only something fun offers a good user experience and only a product with a good user experience will be successful.

Why Usability Tests are very important in the UI Area

Good usability is the be-all and end-all when it comes to a good user experience and the success of a service or product. A good example of this is online shopping. Here, the user's reward and the associated experience with the online shop is theoretically just a few clicks away. However, if the user encounters too many usability hurdles during the purchasing process, they will either lose interest or switch to the competition. Even if everything goes smoothly, one wrong click due to a misunderstanding can mean that the customer has to contact support.

This costs the provider a lot of effort. These usability barriers or problems can already be eliminated during the development process, as it is difficult to include the user and their way of thinking in the programming. It is therefore a great advantage to test and evaluate the products or services by means of a usability test with the target group of the respective product. Here, most problems can be recognised in advance and rethought and adapted before the product is launched. This applies to any type of digital product with a user interface.

Our Areas for Usability Tests

Usability tests are recommended in all areas in which a medium or product comes into contact with a user. At agindi.media, we specialise in user interfaces, i.e. products with a (digital) user interface. Examples of this are

Websites

A website must function intuitively if it is to convince a potential customer. A visually appealing appearance is not enough. Even the most beautiful colours and animations can fail if the usability (user-friendliness) is not right and the user cannot find his way around and is overwhelmed. We make sure that your websites not only look good, but are also easy to understand and use.

Apps

An app usually serves either to simplify something in the user's life or to entertain them. However, this can only be successful if the user can find their way around the app and understand it. If the app is too complicated for the target group, they will either be reluctant to use it or not use it at all. Under certain circumstances, this can also mean a poor rating in the app stores.

Software

Software is designed to make people's work in the office easier. However, if it is complicated, contains mismatched symbols, colours or terms for certain functions, this can cause confusion and cost the user time and nerves. This makes learning the software much more difficult. This is why software must be simple, self-explanatory and intuitive. To ensure this, software should be tested regularly, if possible after each new function has been added.

E-Commerce

People prefer to shop online nowadays because it is easier and less stressful. Therefore, an online shop must be self-explanatory and easy to understand. The customer must be able to find what they are looking for straight away and be offered other suitable products so that they can make their entire purchase in the same online shop. It is also the task of a good shop to guide the customer to the checkout and to finalise the purchase.

Portals

For data exchange and the connection between user and company to function smoothly and easily, the usability must be right. If the user interface of a portal is too complex, the user quickly becomes frustrated and often does not use the portal because it takes too much time. Only a portal that is self-explanatory and easy to learn will be used.

HMIs

HMIs are the most important interfaces between man and machine and, depending on the device, whether in medicine or production, can also make a difference to people's health. Good usability is therefore very important here. If certain buttons have the wrong colour, wording or position, something could go wrong quickly in a worst-case scenario.

Usability in the B2B Sector

The topic of usability is also omnipresent in the B2B sector. User-friendliness and user guidance are fundamental to a good product. Whether in the B2C or B2B sector, users must be able to reach their objective as quickly as possible. For example, if users take longer to find the function they are looking for, the product loses value for them. Companies should therefore make sure that they always offer their users user interfaces that are simple and easy to understand. Nothing is worse and more expensive than an elaborately developed product that is not accepted by users at the end of the day because it is too complicated and incomprehensible for them.

Our Usability Test Methods

There are various methods for testing and evaluating the user-friendliness of a product. At agindi, we focus on the following:

Using the Thinking Aloud method, we observe users using the product to be evaluated under laboratory conditions, whereby they are accompanied by a moderator and guided with tasks and objectives to be fulfilled. It is important that the users express their thoughts and feelings about their approach out loud. Their interactions are recorded by two cameras for later evaluation. In addition, a recorder notes down their own observations. With the Thinking Aloud method, at least 85% of usability problems are recognised.

Heatmap

A heatmap is a data visualisation that uses colour gradients, similar to an infrared camera, to show how users scroll, click and move the mouse on a website. This method allows us to recognise how visitors to a website behave. Whether they find their way around, have problems with some interaction elements, which areas they find interesting or possibly even overlook important elements or areas. From this knowledge, a website can be reconsidered and optimised.

A/B Testing

In A/B testing, the product or a function of a product is tested in two or more versions, e.g. with the heat map or the thinking aloud method, and then compared with each other in order to identify the variant that works better afterwards. The variants can either be different ideas that are to be compared or one or more ideas that are compared with an old idea.

Analysis

A heuristic analysis can be used as a supplement or as an inexpensive but less effective alternative to a classic usability test. Here, the product to be evaluated is analysed and evaluated by our UX/usability experts on a heuristic basis and using the usability standard DIN EN ISO 9241, 210. Nevertheless, we recommend a real usability test, as the error detection is significantly higher and more promising.
